A coach is a student first. Each off-season the staff watches a shared film list and meets monthly to discuss. Film without a process is just watching basketball — our process produces actionable clips a player can apply by the next practice.
Required Film
Two full college games from a program whose style we're studying (note actions, not just plays).
One full NBA playoff game — focus on late-game execution.
Last year's state champion (any level) — what is their identity in 30 seconds of film?
Watch conference opponents head-to-head games. Take notes on what worked and what you struggled with.
Study teams that play similar to you — same offensive philosophy and defensive philosophy.

Discussion Questions
01What did the best team in this film do every single possession?
02What did they refuse to do?
03Where does this fit (or not fit) our personnel?
Film Breakdown Process
01Tag the game with our standard categories (transition D, half-court D, ATO, late clock, turnovers).
02Cut a 'good, bad, fix' clip for each starter — max 8 clips per player.
03Build one team teach reel (under 4 minutes).
04Players review individually before the team meeting.
05Team meeting is discussion, not new information.
